Chefs, professors, fellow Gelato Masters and the crowd loved our flavor! We were slightly risky with the flavor that we brought, Raspberry Beet. We were only asked to bring one flavor to the competition, so we thought with Austin, TX as the host city we would follow what the locals do and keep Austin weird! Needless to say they came out in crowds, and broke all previous Gelato World Tour stop records! We served 63,000 people over 5,000kg in three days. They were long hot days, and Bent Spoon Gelato produced almost 600 kg of gelato alone. Here are what some of the food bloggers had to say about us, and some photos-
Baron Gottsacker's Raspberry Beet gelato was both sweet and earthy, beginning with the fruitiness of the raspberries and ending strongly with the earthy beet flavor. There was a deepness of flavor that was not found in many of the other samples, and as an iffy beet-eater was surprisingly delicious- Lisa Rawlinson, http://www.fullandcontent.com/ My favorite entry — the one I absolutely couldn't stop eating and wanted seconds or thirds of — was the bright pink Raspberry Beet gelato from Baron W. Von Gottsacker of Bent Spoon Gelato in Sheboygan, Wisconsin-Addie Broyles, http://www.austin360.com/ It was an amazing time, we met a lot of great people that are as passionate about gelato as we are and we can't wait to compete again!
